Vector Free Marlborough is looking for a motivated, and keen apprentice (17yrs+) to join its predator field team in work across Te Tau Ihu.

This person would be undertaking various Predator related tasks, mostly field based and needing to be away from Blenheim working on the Westcoast for 7 to 10 days, then back to home for the break off.

No experience required.

Position Description

 Position Overview:

This position will drive communications activities for several diverse portfolios of our Iwi Trust. The role requires a sound knowledge of the full communications toolkit from brand strategy to social media content and everything in-between. Knowledge in capturing and compiling visual and digital platforms is also sought within this role.  

This role requires Māori cultural awareness, a competence in Te reo Māori along with a confidence in cultural contexts. Our preferred candidate will have, or be willing to develop, an affinity with Te Ātiawa and will be passionate about our people and our environment. 

This full-time permanent position will be based at the Trust office in Waikawa, Waitohi/Picton and work across the Te Ātiawa community of Te Tauihu.

The Role:

The Communications Manager is responsible to skilfully develop and effectively implement the Communications Plan for the Trust. The role is critical to: 

·Build content and communication forums to inform, involve and motivate iwi and key audiences on the development of the Trust organisation

·Work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure delivery of quality and timely communications that capture and promote iwi activities

·Develop, manage and monitor communication formats such as print, website, social media and digital forums that are coordinated, cohesive and consistent

·Support the development, recording and publication of iwi content around a  range of contexts

·Support the implementation of appropriate Te reo Māori and Te Ao Māori into communications processes.

·Devise communications that build strong, respectful relationships internally as well as with external organisations

We seek an applicant who:

·Is enthusiastic, innovative and creative with a ‘can do’ approach

·Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively within a Māori context and across all age groups from tamariki to kaumātua

·Encourages and supports people to share and bring their stories to life

·Portrays excellent verbal and written communication skills, in both Te reo Māori and English

· Demonstrates excellent recording and editing skills in order to produce creative digital, social media and print content to support communications plans.

·Has a positive solution focused approach with the ability to work as part of a team, to required timelines and budget

·Professional always, in both your manner, language and appearance

·Open-minded and respectful of others

·Has proven successful experience working in the communications sector.

·Possesses a relevant qualification in the Communications field - an advantage.

Ko tā mātou mahi -  Our Role

As Senior Advisor, you will support the Regional Manager Te Kurutao to develop and foster key Māori partner relationships within Te Tauihu region, including providing cultural support and guidance to the regional team and management of Māori engagement.

In addition, you'll support multiple project deliverables, including the implementation of Māori build partner opportunities and regional papakāinga initiatives, and implement policy and strategy frameworks developed through Te Kurutao Centre of Excellence for Māori Outcomes.

This role offers the unique opportunity to work closely with Te Kotahi o Te Tauihu Charitable Trust to ensure Kāinga Ora are supporting and meeting the objectives of the Trust.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring

  • You'll have a background of working with Māori organisations, and an enthusiasm for empowering and enhancing Māori capacity and capability to deliver on identified projects
  • You'll have a sound knowledge and understanding of contemporary dynamics of Māori housing, with experience working with Māori in housing or similar settings
  • You'll be competent in tikanga Māori, and confident operating in a wide range of Māori environments. Ideally you will have a good grounding in Te Reo Māori
  • You will be adept at growing the organisation's cultural competence to deliver impactful outcomes in partnership with Māori
  • Naturally, you'll have an inherent understanding of the implications of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and its respective interpretations by iwi/hapū.
