Te Toki o Awa 2025
Te Toki o Awa is a six-day adventure course, co-designed with Outward Bound. It has been created to help whānau explore their identity, build deep connections to place, people, and taonga tuku iho in a way that is both powerful and personal.
Through traversing the moana, exploring ancestral lands, sharing pūrākau, revitalising tikanga, and whakawhanaungatanga, this wānanga gifted us more than we could have imagined. To everyone who took part, ngā mihi nunui. You all made this kaupapa unforgettable.

“I walked away with a real sense of place and also a sense of connection I previously didn't have... To have our whānau who lived in these places share their kōrero was very special.”
“Stepping up to lead karakia, smashing out rock climbing, and giving waka ama a go, proving to myself and my kids that stepping into the unknown can create lifelong memories and lessons.”
“The entirety of Te Toki o Awa I relished. I found it to be a profound opportunity and a niche experience, in short, the most impactful elements I have taken were the multiple experiences I got to openly learn and challenge myself with the extended whānau.”
