Whānau Ora Navigator    

 

We are pleased that we have an opportunity to strengthen manaaki a-iwi in Te Tauihu through the provision of a new whānau ora navigator role specifically to support the eight Iwi collaboration in our ongoing response to Covid-19.  

 

This role is based primarily at the Ngāti Kuia office in Whakatū. It is designed specifically to support the eight iwi of Te Tauihu being Ngāti Kuia, Ngāti Rārua, Ngāti Koata, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Rangitāne o Wairau, Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō, Te Atiawa and Ngāti Tama.

 

Working closely with the Ngāti Kuia General Manager this role will primarily focus on providing key activities to support whānau to be self-determining including, but not limited to:

  • Identify whānau current circumstances and steps to achieve their aspirations.
  • Navigate services and opportunities around whānau, enabling whānau to be more self-managing and responsible for their economic, cultural and social development and well-being.
  • To support whānau to identify strengths within whānau, facilitate and mentor whānau to identify aspirations, and draw on a range of approaches to support whānau in achieving their goals.

 

To ensure success in this role you’ll have the following skills and experience:

 

  • A strong ability to be self managing and unsupervised.
    • Ability to work in a team but operate independently when required
    • Passion for learning and change to create a unity of purpose and vision
    • Whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga and Rangatiratanga – maximizing opportunities, strengths and results from the collective
      • An understanding of kaupapa Māori within an organisation setting
      • An understanding or willingness to learn te reo and tikanga Māori

 

This is a fixed term position and could be either a fixed term employment or a fixed term contractor arrangement for the suitable candidate

 

The position is a 12-month Fixed-Term position for 40 hours per week from June 2020 to June 2021.
