Kairuku - Dive Wānanga #1
Kairuku is our new wānanga series Kairuku for whānau aged 12+ who love the moana, swimming and mahinga kai. This wānanga series has been designed to provide more opportunities and access for whānau to be confident in gathering kaimoana here in Te Tauihu. We hope that one day these whānau members will be able to support our marae and our communities through kai gathering.
Wānanga 1 - Kairuku ki Waikawa
What: Breath-hold and freediving skills course
When: 3pm 20 September - 5pm 22 September 2024
Where: Based in Waikawa, with trips into Wairau
Who: Pakeke and rangatahi of Te Ātiawa aged 12+
What is included: Ocean Hunter intermediate breath-hold course, hire of wetsuit and equipment, transport (during the course), accommodation and kai.

Please note:
- Transport to and from Waikawa is not available and is the responsibility of the participant.
- Any costs associated with obtaining a medical clearance from your doctor to be on the course is also the responsibility of the participant.
Our connection as Te Ātiawa to the moana is intrinsically spiritual and deeply powerful - we hope that Kairuku can help build on this mō ake tonu.
