SOCIAL PŌU STRATEGY

SOCIAL PŌU STRATEGY - Expression of Interest

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Te Ātiawa Manawhenua Ki Te Tau Ihu Trust [the Trust] was registered to “receive, hold, manage and administer the Trust Fund for every Charitable Purpose benefitting Te Ātiawa (Te Tau Ihu) whether it relates to the relief of poverty, the advancement of education or religion or any other matter beneficial to the community of Te Ātiawa (Te Tau Ihu) and all the members of Te Ātiawa (Te Tau Ihu) irrespective of where those Members reside”.

Our desire is about using our tino rangatiratanga, leadership and influence to realise the potential of our people.

Through our vision of being pono, showing manaaki, modelling kaitiakitanga and pumau; we wish to embed and weave the following kaupapa;

Whai Tangata – Developing our people

Whai Rawa – Developing our economy

Whai Taumata – Developing our organisation

Whai Whanaunga – Connecting and communicating

We now call for expressions of interest to develop a strategic plan that champions our Whai Tangata objectives that aligns with and supports the overall direction of Te Ātiawa trust.

We have identified a range of tasks that will help shape the road map going forward in this space. It is envisaged that prospective Providers will in the first instance engage to better understand the Group, Trust Board and Operations.  More information can be provided at this stage.

We wish to engage a Provider/s to develop a Social Pōu Strategic Plan which will cover at least the following:

  1. An Organogram with a timeline showing the appointment of staff starting with the appointment of a Social Manager;
  2. The Provision of Housing – what actions/or not should the Trust undertake in this space being careful not to take over Crown obligations;
  • The provision of kai for families in need – what should we develop/or not, how should we cooperate/work with other initiatives?
  1. Dovetail with our Emergency Plan being developed;
  2. The creation of jobs/career opportunities;
  3. The whānau fully utilising mainstream and iwi-based health and well-being services;
  • Have kaumātua who are supported and cared for;
  • Dovetail with our Marae thereby creating a united social network;
  1. Have cognisance of other organisations, particularly Iwi Organisations, in the Social ‘space’ and how we can leverage off those existing services;
  2. Our mokopuna, tamariki, taiohi and rangatahi are supported and have specific action plans to cater to their unique needs;
  3. To cater for specific programs such as substance abuse, smoking, obesity, again being careful to dovetail with existing providers and Crown Agencies;
  • Be specific as to how we dovetail/interact/leverage off the Regional Interagency Forum – Social Pōu;
  • A Mental Health Initiative – what we should/should not cater for;
  • How we could dovetail/leverage off the Te Tau Ihu CEO Disaster Relief Trust initiatives;
  1. How do we cater for members not in Te Tau Ihu, e.g. North Island, Australia?
  • Obviously not all actions can be undertaken all at once, hence a coordinated plan with timeline and outcomes is necessary;
  • An Iwi lens is necessary to ensure we stay true to our values.

Timeline for the Project – 3 months.

It is envisaged that prospective Providers will in the first instance engage to better understand the Group, Trust Board and Operations.  More information can be provided at this stage.

A comprehensive brief can then be developed/approved.
