COVID Vaccine Information Sessions and Clinic Opportunity

As you will be aware the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 vaccine roll out is well underway with the majority of port workers in our region vaccinated. Group 2 now becomes the focus which includes older Māori and Pacific people cared for by whānau (and the people they live with and their carers)

As a Māori Health Provider, Te Piki Oranga will be offering COVID vaccine clinics to whānau living in Te Tauihu who meet this criteria. Feedback from whānau we work with suggests there is a portion of our local Māori community who want more information about the Pfizer vaccine in order to make an informed decision. To meet this need we have developed a COVID-19 Vaccine Information session that covers the following:

  • What vaccine will we be offered in Aotearoa?
  • What is the vaccine roll out sequence?
  • How does the vaccine work and what are the common side effects?
  • Did they take shortcuts in developing this vaccine?
  • Who shouldn’t take the vaccine?
  • What reliable resources of information are available if I want to research further?
  • Question and answer session.

If you have people/staff who would be interested in either attending a vaccine information session, or training to deliver it, please contact the COVID Response Manager at Te Piki Oranga on 03 578 5750
