In Te Tai Hauauru, we are one teamone rohe, and we are looking for 6 new team members.  We have both Senior and Regional Advisor opportunities across Te Tai Hauāuru.  These role can be located in any of our regional tari (offices) Whanganui, New Plymouth, Taumarunui, Porirua and Nelson.

 

What will you be doing as a Senior Advisor?

  • Leading work with agencies, organisations and providers to assist them to improve their outcomes for Māori.
  • Acting as an effective conduit for information both into and out of Māori communities to support Māori initiatives.
  • Managing and analysing information at a local level on Māori views, aspirations and experiences, to contribute to the development of Te Puni Kōkiri policy thinking.
  • Assisting whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisation's and communities to develop and implement initiatives that will enable them to achieve long-term economic and social development.
  • Managing local level contractual arrangements and be a leader in the relationships held with stakeholders.
  • Providing mentoring and coaching to Regional Advisors in the region.
  • Informing investment decisions in partnership with the Investment Team and policy colleagues.

 

What will you be doing as a Regional Advisor?

  • Assisting whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities to develop and implement initiatives that build rangatahi capability to enable them to achieve long-term success and prosperity. 
  • Facilitating regional partnerships and to work with stakeholders across the iwi, public and private sectors.
  • Contributing to regional work programmes including leading and providing policy advice across a range of project related issues significant to Māori and Government.

 

Does this sound like you?

  • An ability to translate community experiences and knowledge into the creation of fit for purpose government operational policy.
  • An adaptable team player experienced in working in high performing physical and virtual cross functional teams.
  • Passion for knowledge, open to learning new things and comfortable with a changing environment.
  • Experience in community development working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisation's and Māori communities.
  • Comfort in working in a tikanga/kaupapa Māori environment, a degree of fluency in Te Reo Māori is of benefit.
  • Ability to identify, build and actively manage significant relationships, valuing diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Proven experience working in either a public or private sector environment.
  • Demonstrate effective use of project management disciplines to support work.
  • Understand the relevance of the Treaty of Waitangi to the work being undertaken.
  • Experience in working with local iwi, hapū and whānau Maori.
  • Experience in using a whānau centred approach to service delivery.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A clean full motor vehicle driver's licence.
