Mō mātou | About Us

Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu was formed on behalf of the nine iwi of Te Waipounamu to realise the transformation potential of Whānau Ora by serving as the Commissioning Agency for the South Island.  This partnership is anchored in shared commitments to whānau as the building blocks of our communities.

Our approach aims to create social impact by investing directly in initiatives developed by whānau or community groups.  The vision of Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu is that whānau are able to fulfil their dreams and aspirations, are culturally connected, thriving and contributing members of their communities.  All our mahi is centred on the philosophy that whānau must be placed at the centre of service design and delivery, supporting them to realise their own solutions.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

As our Chief Executive, you will provide both strategic policy and operational leadership for the whole organisation.  This will involve responding to the aspirations of whānau living in Te Waipounamu and developing, supporting and investing in a portfolio of approaches and initiatives that whānau can use to improve outcomes for their own lives.

You will develop strong and enduring partnerships with our nine iwi, as well as our key funders and stakeholders.  Identifying new opportunities for innovation, being an advocate and champion for whānau ora will be key aspects of this role.  Leading a high performing and empowered team, you will find ways to continually improve.  Along with the board, you will develop and deliver strategic plans for the future, ensuring robust and ongoing funding streams that secure the future of Te Pūtahitanga.

Ko wai koe | About you

We are seeking a proven leader who is truly ambitious for Whānau Ora and for Te Waipounamu.  You will have an understanding of community social/health services and a deep connection to Te Ao Māori and our whānau, hapū and iwi.  Strategically and commercially astute, you are innovative and willing to push the boundaries, whilst still able to ensure delivery happens day in and day out.  As a people leader you are known for empowering and inspiring exceptional performance.  You understand government funding and contracts, and have experience advocating for systems change and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.  Most importantly you have a genuine heart for our people and the Whānau Ora kaupapa.
