Scholarships

 

As Ngāi Tahu, you have more support than you may realise.

We encourage you to apply for all opportunities you think you are eligible for.
To apply for any of our grants or scholarships you will need your six-digit whakapapa number and your password is your 4 digit PIN. If you’re unsure of either please call 0800 KAI TAHU (0800 524 8248) or follow this link to find your registration number.

Matakahi Scholarship

Matakahi Scholarship applications open on the 1 March and close on the 4 April 2019.

Matakahi Scholarships offer support for up to three years while you study including;

  • financial support,
  • paid work placements,
  • support into graduate positions,
  • cultural development and more!

We are looking for students who are studying a qualification that may lead to a role within our commercial businesses or commercial partners.

Beca Scholarship

Beca Scholarship applications open on the 1 March and close on the 4 April 2019.

The Beca Scholarship is for tertiary students studying architecture, engineering, environmental management, landscape design, planning, resource management, or urban design.
Support includes:

  • paid work placement at Beca,
  • financial support,
  • cultural development and more!

Kā Pūtea Grant

Kā Pūtea Grant applications open on the 1 March and close on the 31 October 2019.

Kā Pūtea Grants are available to all registered Ngāi Tahu enrolled in NZQA Tertiary level study or an international equivalent.

Each student is eligible to receive one grant per calendar year. Students are eligible for seven grants throughout their study lifetime.

Entitlements are:

  • $250.00 for your first year of full-time study
  • $500.00 for every subsequent year of full-time study

Kā Pūtea Proof of Engagement Grant

Kā Pūtea Proof of Engagement Grant applications open on the 1 March and close on the 31 October 2019.

The Kā Pūtea Proof of Engagement Grant are available to all registered Ngāi Tahu enrolled in NZQA Tertiary level study or an international equivalent.

Kā Pūtea Proof of Engagement Grants are available through learning, connecting and engaging with Ngāi Tahutanga.

There are three cultural levels that students may apply for and selection of which level to meet is usually determined by the year of tertiary study you are enrolled in with the aim of progressing your Ngāi Tahutanga journey.
