Eddie Berla

10,000 Warriors project – Photography of Māori youth

Eddie Berla is a photographer who has been working with Māori youth to create a contemporary image library which will eventually culminate in an exhibition called ‘10,000 Warriors’, inspired by the film Utu.

The aim of the exhibition is to document and portray as many Māori youth as possible, and ask them what being a warrior in the 21st century means to them.

Eddie has collaborated with costume designer Barbara Darragh (Moa winner for her work on Te Reo film The Dead Lands) and Jeff Ruha and his students (Jeff was the winner of best performer and best performance at Te Matatini 2013)

You can preview the project here: https://www.instagram.com/eddieberla

Eddie is looking for anyone within Te Ātiawa who may be interested in being photographed for the 10,000 Warriors project.

Please email Eddie Berla eddieberla@gmail.com if you are interested.
